Barbados - Bahamas 59-84
Bahamas keep Barbados winless at the CBC Championship. Bahamas improved to 2-1 record after an 84:59 win, while Barbados fell at 0-3 record. Barbados managed to win the first period 17-15, while the opponents dominated the rest of the game. Bahamas posted a 22-14 rally in the second frame and added 24-8 in the third quarter. Moreover they closed the game with a final 23-20 for the second win. Shanea Armbrister (180-F) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Jonquell Jones collected 14 points and 12 rebounds. Britenique Harrison (193-C-94) followed them with 10 points in a win. Dale-Marie Cumberbatch (180-F-88) ended up with 24 points in a loss and Toni Atherley (173-G-83, college: Fresno St.) had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ruth Gill nailed 7 and Maria CUMBERBATCH scored 6.
U.S. Virgin Islands - Dominican Republic 61-65
Dominican Republic beat Virgin Islands to win Group A of the CBC Championship. They needed a narrow 65:61 win for 2-1 record. Virgin Islands also advanced to the Semifinals with the same 2-1 record. Dominican Republic started the game strong and posted a 26-16 win in the first period. Virgin Islands responded with a 13-11 rally in the second frame and reduced to 8 points at the halftime. Again Dominican Republic increased the lead to 12 points as they won the third period 17-13, while Virgin Islands won the last stanza 19-11 to seal the place at the Semifinals. Jennifer Estrella (183-G-88) paced all the winners with 12 points, while Marlem Caceres (179-PF-88) and Yamel Abreu notched 10 each. Ranai Evans (168-SF-97) ended up with 15 points in a loss and Tanecka Carey (175-G-91) scored 14. Akkema Richards delivered 12, whilst Victoria Hamilton brought 8.
Group B
Guyana - Saint Vincent 57-73
Saint Vincent claimed the first victory at the CBC Championship. They outgunned Guyana for 1-2 record in Group B. Shavern Weekes tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Saint Vincent accounted for a 14:9 lead after the first frame. They stretched the margin at 16-point halftime advantage. Guyana narrowed the deficit at 10-point at the final intermission. But Saint Vincent unloaded 23 points in the fourth stanza to seal the victory. Sorayah Williams (183-F-84) netted 16 points and collected 11 rebounds, while Vasha Adams added 10 points and 13 boards in the win. Sonia Rodney (160-SG) topscored with 13 points for Guyana. Shakeila Sampson (165-SG) had 11 points in the defeat.
Trinidad and Tobago - Jamaica 35-49
Jamaica registered the third consecutive victory at the CBC Championship. They overcame Trinidad and Tobago to win Group B with a perfect 3-0 record. Jamaica will now take on Virgin Islands in the semis. Trinidad and Tobago finished second in the standings and would face Dominican Republic in the playoffs. Jamaica stayed in control throughout the game. They registered a 15:9 lead ten minutes into the game. Jamaica boosted the margin to 10 points at halftime 27:17. Trinidad and Tobago pulled within 9 points at the final intermission 29:38. But Jamaica held their opponents to just 6 points in the fourth term and sealed the winning outcome. Jennifer George (183-F, college: Florida) had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Jamaica. Shenneika Smith (185-F/C-89, college: St.John's) contributed 11 points for the winners. Rhonda John-Davis (165-F/G-78) replied with 9 points for Trinidad and Tobago. Shakira Clarke and Rhea Codio netted 5 points each in the loss.
