Jamaica - Dominican Republic 46-98
Dominican Republic stormed past Jamaica to take 1-0 record at the tournament. Dominican Republic opened a 45-17 halftime lead. They sank 53 points in the second half and cruised to the victory. Cesarina Capellan (178-SF-2003) posted 18 points, while Yohanna Morton (172-G-1987, college: RMU) and Angela Jimenez (183-F-2003) finished with 14 points each for the winners. Faatimah Amen-Ra (163-G-1991, college: Toronto, agency: Promo Sport ID) and Gezelle Allison (183-SF-1995) had 12 points each for Jamaica.

Cuba - Bahamas 76-44
Cuba knocked down Bahamas in the opener. Nahomis Vargas came up with 15 points to pace the hosts. Cuba recorded a 38-22 halftime advantage. They followed with a 24-6 run in the fourth frame to ice the win. Isabela Jourdain (188-C-2003) tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds for Cuba. Denika Lightbourne (178-PG-2004) responded with 17 points for Bahamas.
