Guyana storm past Bahamas in FIBA Caribbean Women’s Championship

Hosting Guyana got off to a strong start at the FIBA Caribbean Women’s Championship. They knocked down Bahamas in the opener. Amisha Ramlall stepped up with 33 points for the winners. Ruth Adams (1996) contributed 22 points for the hosts.
Guayana sank 32 points in the first period to open a 7-point lead. They kept Bahamas at bay throughout the second period. Guyana arrived at halftime up by 8 points 48-40. The home side unloaded 28 points in the third quarter to clear off for good.
Valerie Nesbitt (173-G-1998, college: Ole Miss) provided 35 points, while Lashann Higgs (175-G-1995, college: Texas) notched 23 points in the loss.
