Liga Metropolitana Round 2 (Regular Season): Coyotes keep a leadership position

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga Metropolitana. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Coyotes smashed PSN at home 100-80. Coyotes made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game, while PSN only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded PSN 41-27 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by PSN helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was DJon Dunnally who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds. American guard Cory Kaplan (198, college: Ks Wesleyan) chipped in 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. point guard Ivan Fernandez (178-2008) produced 17 points for the guests. PSN's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. PSN will play next round against PIBA trying to get back on the winning streak. Coyotes will try to continue on its current victory against Halcones in Guatemala.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Crossover in Guatemala. Visitors were rolled over by USAC 79-48. American-Japanese forward Justin Bradley (198, college: William Penn) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. Victor Sosa contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Eddie Weems (196-1997, college: Carroll, WI) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Crossover. Crossover's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. USAC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Guatemala Pat City.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Guatemala: Halcones and Pat City. Halcones won against visiting Pat City 89-74. Mario Reyes scored 27 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Halcones' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Corey No Tengo responded with 41 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Halcones will meet Coyotes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pat City's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Guatemala to the arena USAC.

In the last two games of round 2 Yolo's lost to Forza in Guatemala 44-119. PIBA was smashed by New Legends at home 67-107.



Forza - Yolo's 119-44

There was no surprise in Guatemala where Yolo's were crushed by Forza 119-44 on Wednesday. Forza held Yolo's to an opponent 23.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 61.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Yolo's 62-20 including a 43-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sebastian Tabata had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Hector Coronado chipped in 27 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Forza players scored in double figures. Forza's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Walter Ramirez (-1997) responded with 7 points and 9 rebounds and Eliezer Barrot scored 13 points. Forza will meet at home New Legends in the next round. Yolo's will play against Crossover and hope to win that game.

PIBA - New Legends 67-107

But PIBA was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from 107-67 on Wednesday night. New Legends dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to PIBA's 50. They outrebounded PIBA 52-27 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Quincy McGriff (198, college: AAMU) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Kedrick Frink (190, college: Salisbury) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. New Legends' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diesel Marin responded with 20 points and Jose Moran scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five New Legends and four PIBA players scored in double figures. New Legends will meet Forza in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. PIBA will play against PSN and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
