LNBPF Round 6: Lobas keep a leadership position

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Lobas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Lobas defeated 3rd ranked Atleticas in Ciudad de Mexico 86-69. Lobas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Atleticas' 42. The best player for the winners was Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who had a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Ingrid Martinez (175-1995) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Lobas' coach Israel Zermeno used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominican center Yamile Rodriguez (188-1994, college: ETSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Undefeated Lobas (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Mieleras. Atleticas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Mexcaltecas and Quetzales. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

It was a good game for American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) who led her team to a victory with 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Gemma Munoz contributed with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Sofia Payan (167-2000) replied with 15 points and 4 assists for Mexcaltecas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Mieleras have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record, which they share with Lobas. Mexcaltecas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Atleticas and Quetzales. Mieleras will play against league's leader Phoenix in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mexcaltecas will have a break next round.

Quetzales' coach Gerardo Sanchez let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Megan Garcia with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Despite that victory Quetzales went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with Atleticas and Mexcaltecas. Loser Barreteras still closes the standings with six games lost. Quetzales will meet league's second-placed Las Plebes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Barreteras will play against Escaramuzas in Jalisco and hope to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 6 Lenadoras were defeated by Teporacas in a road game 69-59.
The best stats of 6th round was 31 points and 5 rebounds by Kala Green of Lenadoras.

Quetzales made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Quetzales outrebounded Barreteras 47-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-1987) had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Sarai Morales chipped in 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Quetzales' coach Gerardo Sanchez let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Megan Garcia (173, agency: Gamble Sports Management) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Alma Dominguez scored 17 points and 5 steals. Teporacas - Lenadoras 69-59

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Teporacas and 8th ranked Lenadoras had identical 1-4 record. This time Teporacas used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 69-59 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international swingman Daniela Soto (177-1995) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-1986) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Kala Green (175-1996, college: NC A&T) with 31 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Shamika Singleton (185-1989, college: Concordia, TX) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Teporacas (2-4) keep a position of league leader. Lenadoras lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with five games lost. Teporacas will meet Algodoneras (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lenadoras will play against Racers (#4) in Saltillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
