This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Panteras (4-4) to third ranked Halcones (4-2) 94-91 on Friday evening. Halcones made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Panteras turnovers. Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-1994) fired 19 points and 4 steals (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Greek guard Elena Tsineke (170-1999, college: S.Florida) chipped in 18 points. Halcones' coach Maria Fernandez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Polish center Kamila Borkowska (201-2002) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Halcones have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-2 record having just three points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with four games lost. Halcones are looking forward to face Abejas (#7) in Leon in the next round. Panteras will play on the road against Rojas in Veracruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a quality performance of Jaime Nared who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Fuerza Regia's coach Carlos Alonso allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Khari Clark responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Fuerza Regia (6-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Correcaminos. Fuerza Regia will meet at home bottom-ranked Santas (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will play against Halcones in Xalapa and hope to secure a win.
