The game between third ranked Univ. Modelo (5-3) and sixth ranked Mineras (4-4) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Univ. Modelo was defeated by Mineras in Zacatecas 68-51. Mineras outrebounded Univ. Modelo 47-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Univ. Modelo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International guard Karla Martinez (175-2000, college: San Diego) stepped up and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Alma Dominguez (163-1997) chipped in 15 points. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Melissa Ruiz (162-2002) with 20 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mineras have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Las Avispas and Dragonas. Univ. Modelo lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the third position with three games lost. Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and Gladiana Avila accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Paola Velazquez came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds for Dragonas in the defeat. Dragonas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Libelulas have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Mieleras. Dragonas lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Las Avispas and Mineras. Libelulas will play against Las Avispas (#5) in Chilpancingo in the next round. Dragonas will play at home against the league's leader Mieleras and hope to get back on the winning track.

At the other side the best for losing team was Rachel Ortiz who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Mieleras. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-0 record. Huskys lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Mieleras will meet Dragonas (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Huskys will play against Penguins in Mexico City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last game of round 9 winless Penguins were destroyed by Las Avispas on the opponent's court 76-41.
