Round 7 most important game was a victory of Hermosillo over 5th ranked Tijuana 99-85 on Tuesday night. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Montgomery (203-2001, college: Barry) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jahlil Tripp (196-1997, college: Pacific, agency: GSE Worldwide) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American swingman Cameron Mitchell (195-1992, college: IU Southeast) answered with 32 points for Tijuana Zonkeys. Despite that victory Hermosillo went down to ninth position due to points difference. Tijuana at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tijuana will play at home against Hermosillo (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
CIBACOPA top team - Astros (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (3-5) in Guadalajara 110-88. It was a great evening for American guard Malachi Richardson (197-1996, college: Syracuse) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. Mikh McKinney helped adding 16 points and 4 assists. Astros' coach Ivan Deniz felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) responded with 32 points and 4 assists. Undefeated Astros have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Frayles lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Astros will play against Frayles (#6) in Guasave in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Frayles will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to second ranked Angeles (7-1) 113-99 on Tuesday evening. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for Will Yoakum who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. JR Holder came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds for Obregon in the defeat. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Angeles. They maintain second place with 7-1 record behind leader Astros. Obregon lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Angeles will meet at home bottom-ranked Obregon (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Obregon will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 7 Guaymas beat Mazatlan on the road 79-72.



Angeles - Obregon 113-99

JR Holder (198-1994, college: Jacksonville) came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Keith Williams (196-1998, college: WKU) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Obregon in the defeat. CIBACOPA top team - Astros (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (3-5) in Guadalajara 110-88. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave' 28. They outrebounded Frayles 39-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Astros players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Malachi Richardson (197-1996, college: Syracuse) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-1992, college: Sacramento St.) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists. Five Astros players scored in double figures. Astros' coach Ivan Deniz felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Everything could happen in Mazatlan at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas and 9th ranked Venados had identical 2-5 record. But Venados were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Guaymas 79-72 on Tuesday night. Guaymas outrebounded Mazatlan 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Issa Muhammad (206-2001, college: UT Martin) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Sherif Gross-Bullock (196-1999, college: Bryant) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach Walter McCarty used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Nino Johnson (206-1993, college: SEMO, agency: Interperformances) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and point guard KJ Feagin (185-1997, college: SDSU) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for Mazatlan in the defeat.
