It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in CIBACOPA, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Toros (5-1) recorded its first loss on the court of seventh ranked Rayos de Hermosillo on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Rayos de Hermosillo 85-73. American forward Kiandre Gaddy (198-2001, college: Tarleton St., agency: BIG) fired 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian Jorge Banegas (190-1993, agency: BIG) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-1989, college: SF Austin) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hermosillo maintains seventh position with 2-4 record, which they share with Mazatlan and Angeles. Toros at the other side still keep top place with one game lost. Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Obregon having rather not much hope for a victory.
Important game to mention about took place in Ciudad Obregon. Fourth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (4-2) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (4-2) 79-78 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Billy Preston (206-1997, college: Kansas, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. Markedric Bell contributed with 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Greg Whittington (205-1993, college: Georgetown) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds for Obregon. Tijuana moved-up to second place, which they share with Obregon and Frayles. Tijuana will play against Astros (#5) in Guadalajara in the next round. Obregon will play at home against the league's leader Toros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ciudad Obregon. First ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon faced one of their biggest challengers Tijuana Zonkeys. Host Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (4-2) defeated guests from Tijuana (4-2) 95-90. Worth to mention a great performance of Jaden House who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Obregon went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Tijuana and Frayles. Obregon will meet at home league's leader Toros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tijuana will play against Astros and hope to secure a win.
