The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Panteras (14-2) in Chihuahua on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Adelitas (12-4) 84-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panteras. Adelitas made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Zaay Green (188-2000, college: Alabama) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 6 assists. Latvian center Anete Steinberga (191-1990, college: UTEP) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Dyaisha Fair (165-2001, college: Syracuse) replied with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Panteras. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelitas maintains third position with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Panteras. Panteras at the other side still keep top place with two games lost.
Another interesting game for Correcaminos (4-12) which played in Leon against Abejas (3-13). Seventh ranked Correcaminos had an easy win 83-72. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward DreUna Edwards (183-2000, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and Jannon Otto who added 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) responded with 25 points. Abejas' coach Jose Sierra rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Correcaminos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Freseras. Abejas lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost.
A very close game took place in Chihuahua between Panteras and Adelitas. First ranked Panteras (14-2) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd ranked Adelitas (12-4). Panteras managed to escape with a 2-point win 85-83 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Dyaisha Fair who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds by Alisia Jenkins did not help to save the game for Adelitas. Panteras maintains first position with 14-2 record. Loser Adelitas keep the third place with four games lost.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Santas beat El Calor on the road 79-78. El Calor destroyed Santas on its own court 80-61. Fuerza Regia managed to outperform Freseras in Monterrey 78-62. Bottom-ranked Abejas managed to beat Correcaminos at home 82-64. Fuerza Regia crushed Freseras on the opponent's court 135-59.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 20 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Morgan Jones of Fuerza Regia.
