The most exciting game of round 27 in the CIBACOPA took place in Tijuana. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (23-17) to fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (20-20) 93-91 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Tijuana looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Zhuric Phelps (193, college: Texas A&M, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Akia Pruitt (203-1997, college: UNCP) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Cleveland Thomas (192-1993, college: WKU, agency: Slash Sports) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tijuana moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Angeles. Obregon at the other side dropped to the second position with 17 games lost. They share it with Frayles.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Frayles de Guasave (23-17) against eighth ranked Toros (18-22) on Saturday night. Host Frayles de Guasave was crushed by Toros in Guasave 96-71. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a good game for Jericole Hellems (201-1999, college: NC State) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Avry Holmes contributed with 19 points for the winners. Toros' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Ruot Monyyong (210-1998, college: UALR) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds for Frayles. Toros moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Los Mochis and Culiacan. Frayles at the other side keep the second position with 17 games lost. They share it with Obregon.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ciudad de Mexico. First ranked Astros faced 4th placed Angeles. Guests from Guadalajara (38-2) smashed host Angeles (20-20) 105-61. It was a great evening for Jose Israel-Gutierrez who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Chuba Ohams with 8 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Astros have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 38-2 record. Loser Angeles keep the fourth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Tijuana.

Other games of round 27 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Guaymas were defeated by Culiacan in a road game 94-81. Bottom-ranked Mazatlan beat Los Mochis at home 110-107. Los Mochis were destroyed by Astros on the opponent's court 99-72. Astros managed to outperform Los Mochis in a home game 111-106.

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (16-24) were defeated on the road by seventh ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (18-22) 94-81 on Saturday. Strangely Guaymas outrebounded Culiacan 38-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Culiacan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Guaymas' players. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for point guard Roddy Peters (193-1995, college: Nicholls) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 17 assists. Power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) helped adding 21 points and 10 rebounds. Five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Terry Roberts (190-2000, college: Georgia) with 25 points and forward Max Agbonkpolo (206-2000, college: Montana St.) scored 21 points. Culiacan moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Toros and Los Mochis. Loser Ostioneros de Guaymas keep the tenth position with 24 games lost.

There was a surprise result in Mazatlan where eleventh ranked Venados (9-31) edged higher ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (18-22) 110-107 on Saturday. Strangely Los Mochis outrebounded Mazatlan 38-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Devonte Bandoo (190-1996, college: Baylor) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 7 assists. American center Dakota Quinn (206-1997, college: MNU) helped adding 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American center Arnett Moultrie (208-1990, college: MSU) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazatlan maintains eleventh place with 9-31 record. Los Mochis lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. They share it with Toros and Culiacan.
