Leon - Leones MGA 69-70 The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Leon (1-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Leones MGA (2-1) 70-69. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian center Andre Coimbra (205-86, college: CMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit) who added 24 points and 7 steals during the contest. At the losing side Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) responded with 27 points and 9 rebounds and Cuban Yuniskel Molina (183-93) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Leon's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eighteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Leones MGA moved-up to fourth place. Leon at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. They share it with Rivas. Top-ranked host Brumas (2-0) smashed top-ranked Real Esteli (3-1) 90-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Real Esteli. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Brumas dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Real Esteli's 38. They outrebounded Real Esteli 47-31 including 36 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by the former international Dalton Cacho (200-93) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Martell Miller (180, college: Calumet) supported him with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Brumas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by the former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-98) did not help to save the game for Real Esteli. Panamanian Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: Southern Miss) added 21 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brumas moved-up to second place, which they share with Ingenieria. Real Esteli at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Chinandega, where they outplayed Tigres (0-3) 106-74 on Saturday. Cacique D. dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 26. They outrebounded Tigres 43-25 including 32 on the offensive glass. Cacique D. looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Tigres' players. Forward Jeremy Agosto fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-91) chipped in 29 points and 5 steals. Four Cacique D. players scored in double figures. Jose Ortiz produced 24 points (made all of his eight free throws) and Kerling Meza added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cacique D. maintains seventh position with 1-2 record. It was Tigres' third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost.
