What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Indigenas - Brumas 85-112 There was no surprise in Matagalpa where 8th ranked Indigenas (2-9) were crushed by third ranked Brumas (8-3) 112-85 on Saturday. Brumas dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 54. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Indigenas' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brumas made 10 blocks. American Timothy Simmons (195-92, college: DBU) scored 31 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Leon Hampton (213-95, college: Stillman, agency: Epic Sports Consulting LLC) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) during the contest. Hampton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Brumas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Dominican center Teodoro Romero with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Christian Lopez (183-95) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brumas maintains third position with 8-3 record behind leader Real Esteli. Loser Indigenas keep the eighth place with nine games lost. It was a good game for American center BJ Glasford (196-95, college: Stetson, agency: Green Sports Management) who saved his team from a defeat with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import Quentin Davis (199, college: Mendocino CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Cuban Yuniskel Molina (183-93) replied with a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists and center Miguel Almonte (211-91) added 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Leon. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rivas moved-up to fifth place. Leon at the other side dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They also forced 24 Tigres turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Tigres' players. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-87) scored 42 points (!!!) and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Ronald Lawton chipped in 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Quincy Scates (198-89, college: TWU) with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Jose Ortiz scored 22 points. Ingenieria maintains fourth position with 7-5 record. Loser Tigres still closes the standings with 11 games lost. (9-3) in Diriangen on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Real Esteli (9-3) 96-64. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Cacique D.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was Dominican point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-88) chipped in 26 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Real Esteli players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds and forward Jeremy Agosto added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Esteli have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Cacique D.
