The game between second ranked Leon (8-3) and sixth ranked Jaguares (6-5) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Leon was defeated by Jaguares in a tough game in Managua 87-93. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leon. Strangely Leon outrebounded Jaguares 49-37 including 30 on the offensive glass. American Joel Kindred (193-1991, college: St.Augustine) fired 39 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican guard Christian Pizarro (180-1995, college: Miami Dade CC) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Jaguares' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Jaguares have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 6-5 record. Leon at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Jaguares will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leon will play on the road against Brumas in Jinotega and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Leader Leones delivered the ninth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Indigenas (2-9) 104-92 in Matagalpa. American guard Tylan Dean (185-1999, college: Rogers St.) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for Indigenas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones (9-2) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place. Indigenas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Leones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Timothy Simmons stepped up and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. At the losing side Tyler Morman responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Brumas. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Real Esteli.
