There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LSB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Very significant was Brumas' (#2, 4-1) victory against one of their biggest challengers Costa Caribe (3-2) 81-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Costa Caribe. Brumas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Evander Ortiz (180-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American-Puerto Rican forward Jonathan Ocasio (196-1992, college: New Haven) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Puerto Rican guard Jorge Matos (185-1992) with 30 points and 8 rebounds. Costa Caribe's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Brumas maintains second position with 4-1 record behind leader Jaguares. Costa Caribe at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Brumas are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Tigres (#7) in Corinto in the next round where they are favorite. Costa Caribe's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Managua to the arena Jaguares.
Very significant was Jaguares' (#1, 5-0) victory against 4th ranked Flecheros (2-3) 96-74. International forward Josmel Martinez (198-1999, college: Broward CC) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Andy Hodgson supported him with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by Dominican Franklyn Batista did not help to save the game for Flecheros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Jaguares (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Flecheros at the other side keep the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Leones. Jaguares' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Managua Costa Caribe.
The game in Esteli was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Leones (2-3) played at the court of sixth ranked Real Esteli (2-4). Real Esteli maintains sixth position with 2-4 record. Loser Leones dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Flecheros. Real Esteli will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leones will play against Flecheros (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points and 10 rebounds by Jensen Campbell of Real Esteli.
