Round 8 most important game was a victory of Flecheros over one of their biggest challengers Costa Caribe 89-70 on Saturday night. Flecheros had a 43-30 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Costa Caribe's players. American power forward Eden Ewing (204-1997, college: Texas Southern) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. replied with 27 points and 9 rebounds for Costa Caribe. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flecheros (4-3) moved-up to third place. Costa Caribe lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with four games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Jinotega. Second ranked Brumas (5-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Real Esteli (2-5) 83-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Real Esteli. Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 11 assists and Jonathan Ocasio who added 13 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Eden Ewing (204-1997, college: Texas Southern) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Brumas maintains second position with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Jaguares. Real Esteli at the other side dropped to the sixth place with five games lost.
LSB top team - Jaguares (7-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Tigres (1-6) in Corinto 87-74. The winners were led by Luis Lopez who scored that evening 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by Ezequiel Colon did not help to save the game for Tigres. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Undefeated Jaguares have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Loser Tigres stay at the bottom place with six games lost.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals by Leslie Serrano of Tigres.
