Toros - Correcaminos 65-79

Correcaminos claimed LPB title. They defeated Toros in Game 4 of the Finals to conquer the trophy. Correcaminos outrebounded Toros 46-29 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Correcaminos looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Toros' players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Michael Hicks (196-1976, college: TAMUCC) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 rebounds and Roberto Armstrong (182-2000) who added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side swingman Amilcar Sanchez (191-2001) responded with 18 points and American point guard Greg Foster (190-1989, college: SVSU) scored 14 points. Toros' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Guillermo Navarro, 21-year old point guard from the Toros de Chiriqui David, picked up the Player of the Year at the LPB. He received multiple other awards, was named the Guard of the Year, Domestic Player of the Year and was voted to the First Team. With Navarro's excellent performance, the Toros de Chiriqui David achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 8 to 2 in the regular season. Navarro's best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Correcaminos 1 to 3. He was previously selected to the Under 21 First Team back in 2021. Navarro averaged over 14 points per game in the league. He was the Player of the Week honoree 5 times during the 24 campaign. Navarro led the LPB in assists per game with almost 7. He has totalled 3 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 5 games on the year. Navarro's 24 points against the Correcaminos were the most he scored in the 2024 season.
Amilcar Sanchez, swingman from the Toros de Chiriqui David, was voted the Forward of the Year of LPB. He was also chosen to the First Team. Sanchez's best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Correcaminos 1 to 3. He was previously named to Under 21 Honorable Mention back in 2021. Sanchez's playmaking prowess was on full display as he secured the second position in points per game averaging over 20. He also registered almost 4 rebounds per game that season in the league. Sanchez has totalled 8 games of 20 or more points on the year and had 30 or more points in 2 games. His 33 points against the Panteras were the most he scored in the 2024 season.
Jaime Lloreda, 44-year old center from the Toros de Chiriqui David, was selected as the Center of the Year at the LPB. He graduated from the Louisiana State twenty years ago. Lloreda was also named to the First Team. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Correcaminos 1 to 3. Lloreda was previously honored as the Bect Center back in 2015, and earned a spot in the First Team three times in the past, Finals MVP, Player of the Year and Center of the Year back in 2021. He recorded almost 10 points per game over the season in the league. Lloreda received Player of the Week award in the league. He led the LPB in rebounds per game with over 12. Lloreda logged double-doubles in 6 games at the event. His 18 points against the Atletico Nacional were the most he scored in the 2024 season. Among many awards he won the Panamanian LPB championship title in 2015, 2016 and 2021.
C.J Jones, American swingman from the Dragones de Don Bosco, earned the Import Player of the Year of LPB. He is the MTSU alumni from 2020. Jones was also voted to the First Team. His masterful distribution skills earned him the fourth spot in points per game with an impressive average of almost 19. Jones also averaged over 6 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points on the year and registered 30 or more points in 2 games. Jones' 30 points against the Toros were the most he scored in the 2024 season.
Adalberto Rojas, 38-year old American power forward from the Atletico Nacional, was selected to the First Team at the LPB. He previously picked up the Most Improved Player of the Year and 2020 and earned Honorable Mention back in 2018. Rojas' court vision was unparalleled as he secured the fifth spot in points per game, delivering an average of over 17 and fifth ranked in rebounds per game with an average of 7. He has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and notched double-doubles in 3 games on the year. Rojas' 32 points against the Dragones were the most he scored in the 2024 season. Among many awards he won the Panamanian LPB championship title in 2020 and 2022. He was also selected as the Latinbasket All-Panamanian LPB Most Improved Player of the Year between 2018 and 2020. Rojas was selected as the Latinbasket All-Nicaraguan LSB Honorable Mention between 2018 and 2022.
