Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Panamanians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward
Akil Mitchell (206-92, college:
Virginia, currently plays in Israel). He led
M.Rishon to a victory against the third-ranked Galil Gilboa (12-7)
85-75 in the Israeli Winner League in Thursday night's game.
Mitchell recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in 27 minutes on the court.
Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion (10-10) is placed eighth in the Winner League.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
It's Mitchell's first season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year: 15.0ppg, 8.9rpg, 2.1apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 61.2%(123-201), 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 57.8% in 20 games he played so far.
Mitchell is a naturalized American.
He is currently a member of the Panamanian senior national team. Strangely Mitchell has never played in Panama.
#2. Second place goes to an international center
Javier Carter (203-91, agency:
Slash Sports, college:
USA, currently plays in Japan). He could not help
Akita Northern Happinets (25-23) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Carter's very good performance the seventh-placed Akita Northern Happinets (25-23) were edged
89-88 on the road by the higher-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) in the East group.
He was the top scorer with 25 points. Carter also added 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks.
This season Carter averages: 9.3ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 51.5%, 3FGP: 30.3% and FT: 69.6%.
He is a naturalized American.
Carter is in the roster of the Panamanian senior national team. He used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.
#3. The Panamanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard
Trevor Gaskins (188-89, agency:
Pro Sports, college:
Louisiana Tech, currently plays in Argentina). Gaskins managed to help Quimsa Santiago del Estero to win against the fifth-ranked Instituto (15-0)
71-67 in the Argentinian La Liga in Friday night's game.
He scored only 3 points.
Quimsa Santiago del Estero (21-0) is placed first in the La Liga.
So far his team won all twenty one games in the Regular Season.
They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Gaskins' overall stats this season are: 7.6ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 44.5%, 3FGP: 29.7%.
He is a naturalized American.
Gaskins is also a member of the Panamanian senior national team. He used to play for Correcaminos de Colon in Panamanian league.
#4. Forward
Tony Bishop (201-89, college:
Texas St., currently plays in Romania) contributed to
Pitesti's victory against the closely-ranked Timisoara (2-1)
79-72 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Friday night.
He recorded 6 points.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BCM U FC Arges Pitesti (2-1) is placed second in the Liga Nationala.
Bishop's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial.
This season Bishop has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.2apg and 1.8spg.
He is also Panamanian national team player.
#5. Former international guard
Iverson Molinar (193-99, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the
MSU in their game against the University of Memphis (13-0) in the NCAA National Tournament Round 3.
Molinar recorded 6 points in 32 minutes.
The MSU lost
64-77 at home to the University of.
The National Tournament Round 3 already ended in the NCAA.
Molinar has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.4ppg, 3.7rpg and 2.3apg in 29 games.

#6. Shooting guard
Daniel Giron (192-89, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to
Soles' victory against the closely-ranked Toros (5-4)
103-93 in the Mexican LBE (third division) last Friday.
He scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Soles de Ojinagais placed first in the LBE.
Giron has reliable stats this season: 12.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2spg.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Panamanian National Team roster.
The list of other players, who all have Panamanian passport but never been selected to any of Panamanian national teams: #1. Eddie Giron (194-SG-97, college:

Toros (5-4) in their last game. Despite Giron's very good performance Toros was edged
104-102 on the road by the leading Dorados.
He recorded 15 points and added 3 passes in 28 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Giron's third season in pro basketball. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Giron has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.9apg and 2.0spg in seven games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Mexican and Panamanian.
#2. Anell Alexis (200-PF-90, college:
Marist, currently plays in Germany) led
Schwelm to a victory against the third-ranked Itzehoe (0-1)
85-77 in the German ProB (third division) last Thursday.
Alexis scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 38 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group 4. EN Baskets Schwelm (1-0) is placed second.
His team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And now that game is very crucial.
This year Alexis has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg in 22 games.
He is a naturalized American.
Alexis used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.
#3. Experienced
Gabriel Giron (192-SG-88, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to
Centauros' victory against the league leader Soles (13-5)
105-92 in the Mexican LBE (third division) on Saturday night.
Giron had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 assists in 42 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Centauros de Chihuahua (7-2) is placed second in the LBE.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season.
Giron has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.9ppg, 6.6rpg, 3.4apg and 1.1spg in seven games.

#4. Joshua Ibarra (211-C-95, college:
HBU, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Gabriel Giron and both played together in the last Mexican LBE game.
Ibarra contributed to
Centauros' victory against the league leader Soles (13-5)
105-92.
He scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only Ibarra's second season in pro basketball. Ibarra's stats this year are: 12.2ppg and 10.7rpg.
He has both Panamanian and Mexican nationalities.
