Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Criollos (10-4) in Caguas on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Capitanes (12-3) 104-102. Arecibo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Criollos' 38. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American center Jahlil Okafor (211-1995, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard David Stockton (180-1991, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) replied with 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for Caguas. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Arecibo maintains first position with 12-3 record which they share with defeated Caguas. Caguas at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. Arecibo are looking forward to face Ponce (#6) in Juana Diaz in the next round where they are favorite. Caguas will play on the road against the league's second-placed Guaynabo (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Quebradillas. Third ranked Piratas (8-10) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Atleticos (6-11) 102-100 in the fight for the third place. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Tai Odiase (206-1995, college: UIC) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Emmanuel Mudiay who added 25 points during the contest. At the losing side international point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Piratas have a solid four-game winning streak. Quebradillas maintains third position with 8-10 record having one point less than leader Caguas. San German at the other side dropped to the fourth place with 11 games lost. Quebradillas will play against Santurce (#5) on the road in the next round. San German will play against Carolina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Piratas (8-10) against sixth ranked Cangrejeros (6-6) on Sunday night. Host Piratas were defeated by Cangrejeros in Quebradillas 99-87. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Piratas. The winners were led by Angel Matias who scored that evening 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 27 points and 7 assists by Emmanuel Mudiay did not help to save the game for Quebradillas. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Santurce moved-up to fifth place. Loser Piratas keep the third position with ten games lost. Santurce will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quebradillas will play against Santurce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. Ponce beat Carolina on the road 104-100. Aguada lost to Bayamon on its own court 63-68. Guaynabo managed to outperform Manati in a road game 94-76. San German managed to beat Aguada at home 89-77. Carolina was defeated by Mayaguez on the opponent's court 98-94.
The most impressive performance of 16th round was 31 points and 4 assists by Jorge Pacheco of Mayaguez.




Quebradillas - San German 102-100

Important game to mention about took place in Quebradillas. Third ranked Piratas (8-10) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Atleticos (6-11) 102-100 in the fight for the third place. Quebradillas made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Tai Odiase (206-1995, college: UIC) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and DR Congolese point guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) who added 25 points during the contest. There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Leones (5-8) beat 4th ranked Gigantes (7-9) in Carolina 104-100 on Friday. Ponce made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game, while Carolina only scored five points from the stripe. The winners were led by the former international point guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Nicaraguan Jared Ruiz (188-1992) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds by American forward Scottie James Jr (202-1996, college: Liberty, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Carolina. His fellow American import Brandon Goodwin (188-1995, college: FGCU) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for lost side. Four Ponce and five Carolina players scored in double figures. Ponce maintains sixth position with 5-8 record. Defending champion Carolina keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Ponce will meet league's leader Arecibo on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures.
