The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Criollos (13-9) in Caguas on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Cangrejeros (11-11) 104-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Criollos. Santurce made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Caguas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American center Jared Sullinger (206-1992, college: Ohio St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 20 rebounds. The former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) helped adding 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santurce moved-up to fourth place. Caguas at the other side dropped to the second position with nine games lost. Santurce are looking forward to face Manati (#5) on the road in the next round. Caguas will play against Carolina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Caguas went down to second position due to points difference. Manati lost third consecutive game. Loser Piratas keep the third position with 13 games lost. Arecibo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: Carolina won against Santurce on the opponent's court 94-84. Ponce unfortunately lost to Aguada in a home game 86-91. Carolina managed to beat Manati on the road 106-91.
