The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Capitanes (21-9) in Arecibo on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Gigantes (17-13) 106-95. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Carolina outrebounded Arecibo 43-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Carolina looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Scottie James Jr (202-1996, college: Liberty, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import Brandon Goodwin (188-1995, college: FGCU) contributed with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American center Jahlil Okafor (211-1995, college: Duke) replied with 24 points and 9 rebounds for Arecibo. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Arecibo at the other side still keeps top position with nine games lost. Carolina are looking forward to face Santurce (#4) on the road in the next round. Arecibo will play against Quebradillas and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Caguas. Sixth ranked Atleticos (12-18) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Criollos (16-12) 93-90 on Friday evening.
