Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise took place in Arecibo where host Capitanes (12-9) beat league's leader Indios (11-9) 80-76 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was American guard Bryon Allen (192-1992, college: GMU) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Nigerian-American center Jahlil Okafor (211-1995, college: Duke) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. New Zealand center Tyrell Harrison (214-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Arecibo keeps a position of league leader. Mayaguez lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with nine games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Arecibo. Mayaguez will play next round against strong Quebradillas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Arecibo will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Mayaguez on the road.
Third-ranked Criollos (10-10) made lots of trouble for first ranked Vaqueros (16-5) in Bayamon. Vaqueros managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Criollos. Dominican swingman Chris Duarte (197-1997, college: Oregon) saved the victory by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Danilo Gallinari contributed with 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for Caguas. Criollos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bayamon maintains first place with 16-5 record. Caguas at the other side keep the third position with ten games lost. Bayamon will play against San German (#5) at home in the next round. Caguas will have a break next round.
The game in Aguada was also quite interesting. Third ranked Piratas (10-8) played at the court of 6th ranked Santeros (4-13). Piratas managed to secure a 6-point victory 96-90 on Saturday. Emmanuel Mudiay stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 assists for the winners. Joel Soriano responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas have a solid series of four victories in a row. Quebradillas maintains third place with 10-8 record having nine points less than leader Arecibo. Loser Santeros keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Quebradillas will meet at home league's second-placed Mayaguez in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aguada will play against Guaynabo (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 17 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Guaynabo was defeated by Carolina in a road game 112-94. San German beat Manati at home 104-90. Aguada lost to Ponce on the opponent's court 104-108.
The best stats of 17th round was 27 points and 10 assists by Matt Mooney of Ponce.



Carolina - Guaynabo 112-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Mets' (8-11) road loss to fourth ranked Gigantes (9-7) 94-112 on Saturday. Carolina shot 60.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American guard Kobi Simmons (196-1997, college: Arizona) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 8 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Reggie Perry (208-2000, college: MSU) chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. International center Ismael Romero (205-1991) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American center DeMarcus Cousins (211-1990, college: Kentucky) scored 15 points. Four Carolina and five Guaynabo players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 9-7 record. Loser Mets keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Carolina will meet at home league's second-placed Santurce in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guaynabo will play against Aguada and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Dominican center Joel Soriano (211-2000, college: St.John's) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-1997, college: UNF, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists. The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Atleticos' (7-11) home victory over 6th ranked Osos (3-14) 104-90 on Sunday. San German looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American Gabe York (190-1993, college: Arizona) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and guard Andre Curbelo (183-2001, college: Southern Miss) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. International point guard Jordan Howard (180-1996, college: Cent Arkansas) responded with 29 points and international Chris Ortiz (203-1993, college: Kent St.) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Five San German and four Manati players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. San German maintains fifth place with 7-11 record. Manati lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. San German will meet league's leader Bayamon on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Manati will play against Ponce (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
