Defending champion Real Esteli (LSB) agreed terms with 32-year old American (has also Puerto Rican- international passport) swingman Alex Franklin (198cm-103kg-88, college: Siena) for new 2021 season. He played last summer at Piratas de Quebradillas in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 15 games he had 9.2ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.3spg. Franklin helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. The last season he played at Abejas in Mexican LNBP where in 14 games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.3ppg, 7.3rpg, 2.4apg and 1.8spg. He was also named League Player of the Week.
Franklin represented Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla (Colombia) three years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 4 games: 9.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 42.1%, 3PT-3(50.0%), FT: 71.4%.
Franklin is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in ten different countries. Franklin tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Argentina (Obras), Dominican Republic, France, Germany (Skyliners), Israel (Maccabi Raanana), Poland (AZS Koszalin), Spain (Huesca), Uruguay (Aguada), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Atleticos and Indios) and Mexico (Toros and Soles).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Franklin won Puerto Rican BSN championship title in 2012. He was also voted Latinbasket.com Puerto Rican BSN All-Defensive Team between 2017 and 2018.
Franklin attended Siena College until 2010 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player.
On Franklin: A gifted and talented forward, he plays the game above the rim. He brings a lot of energy, is athletic and has a good attitude.
