Piratas de la Guaira (SPB) tabbed 25-year old American 198cm forward Emmitt Williams (college: LSU, agency: BMS Sport Agency). It is actually his comeback to La Guaira as he has played here before. Williams moved there from Gigantes de Carolina in Puerto Rican BSN league where he started the season. In three games just recently he averaged 11.7ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.7apg. The last season he played at Real Esteli in Nicaraguan league. In 9 BSN games he had 13.1ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.3spg.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in six different countries playing on three different continents. Williams is familiar with European, Latin American and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in Canada (Bandits), Dominican Republic (Mauricio Baez and Metros), Israel (Hapoel Acre), Italy (Napoli), NBA G League (Ontario Clippers) and NBA Summer League (OKC Thunder).
Among many awards he won Dominican Republic TBS championship title in 2023. Williams received Class 9A Player of the Year award back in 2018.
He graduated from Louisiana State University in 2020 and it will be his fourth season in pro basketball.
