Aleem Ford gets MVP of the Week award for Puerto Rican BSN (by Hoops Agents)

International Forward Aleem Ford (203-F-1996) put on an extraordinary performance in the last week for Leones de Ponce and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for week 23.
The 28-year old forward had the game-high 32 points adding seven rebounds and two assists for Ponce in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Guaynabo (#5, 9-17) 97-94. Leones maintains the 4th position in their group in the Puerto Rican BSN. Ponce is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-13 record. In the team's last game Ford had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He just recently signed at Leones, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Aleem Ford averages this season 11.5ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last week's games was young American forward Jalen Slawson (201-F-1999) of Atleticos de San German. Slawson impressed basketball fans with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Atleticos cruised to a 95-84 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Carolina (#4, 12-13). San German's 5th position in Group A has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 12-15 record. Slawson is one of the most experienced players at San German and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last week was American DeMarcus Cousins (211-C-1990) of Mets de Guaynabo (#5). Cousins got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last week. He went also for nine rebounds and five assists. Despite Cousins' great performance the Mets lost 94-97 to slightly higher-ranked Ponce (#4, 12-13). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Guaynabo not to end season at such low position in Group B, however are less than slim as they have already lost 17 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Cousins could try to bring Guaynabo's a little bit higher in the standings. Cousins has a very solid season. In 9 games in Puerto Rico he scored 19.0ppg. He also has 9.2rpg, 4.7apg, 1.6bpg and a FGP of 61.1%.
