Venezuela stepped onto the podium for the first time at the FIBA U16 AmeriCup. They overcame Puerto Rico 84-76 in the game for the 3rd place.
Julio Vasquez (190-SG-2009) led the way with 20 points and Deiker Torres (183-PG-2010) netted 14. Carlos Perez followed them with 12 points in a win. Jodereck Torres (180-G-2009) replied with 15 points in the losing effort. Both teams secured berth to next year’s FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup in Turkey.
