Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Alfonso Plummer (185-1997, college: Illinois) chipped in 25 points during the contest. New Zealand forward Samuel Waardenburg (208-1999, college: Miami, FL) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Jorge Pacheco (188-1998, college: Liberty) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

Italian forward Danilo Gallinari (208-1988) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Vaqueros' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kobi Simmons (196-1997, college: Arizona) produced 26 points and point guard Evander Ortiz (180-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts.

Five Criollos and four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
