The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 5 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Atleticos (20-10) in Bayamon on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Vaqueros (19-11) 86-57. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Atleticos. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Bayamon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by San German's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bayamon made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American Jae Crowder (198-1990, college: Marquette, agency: Shark Sports Management) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized American center Julian Torres (206-1997, college: LSUA) with 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-11 record which they share with defeated San German. San German at the other side still keeps top place with ten games lost. Bayamon are looking forward to face league's second-placed Arecibo on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. San German will play against Mayaguez and is hoping to win this game.
Very significant was Santurce's (#5) 99-92 road victory against one of their biggest challengers Guaynabo. The winners were led by American forward DJ Wilson (208-1996, college: Michigan) who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Isaiah Pineiro supported him with 23 points. Cangrejeros' coach Nelson Colon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) did not help to save the game for Mets. Santurce have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Guaynabo at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. Santurce will play against Manati (#6) at home in the next round. Guaynabo will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Carolina between Cangrejeros and Gigantes.
