St. Vincent and the Grenadines came within one game of regional glory but had to settle for silver, beaten 20-15 by St. Kitts and Nevis in the final of the inaugural ANOECS Under-23 men's 3x3 basketball tournament at the Multiplex Sports Facility on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
The Vincentian quartet of Elroy Joseph, Adrian Sam, Maxron Dublin and Aquando Henry had done the hard part to reach the decider, knocking out previously unbeaten Grenada 18-12 in the semifinals. But in the title game they ran into a St. Kitts and Nevis side that had already gotten the better of them once.
Drawn in Group B of the six-team event, SVG opened with a 14-12 win over Dominica on Saturday, May 16, before being humbled 21-8 by St. Kitts and Nevis in their second group game. A 1-1 record was enough to carry them through to the semifinals, with Dominica also falling to the eventual champions, 21-11.
In Group A, Grenada beat St. Lucia 20-16 and the British Virgin Islands 21-14, while the BVI also saw off St. Lucia 21-14. St. Kitts and Nevis booked their place in the final by defeating the host BVI 21-10 in the other semifinal.
In the classification games, the British Virgin Islands claimed third place with a 17-13 win over Grenada, while Dominica edged St. Lucia 16-14 to finish fifth ahead of the Vincentians' regional rivals in sixth. SVG's silver-medal contingent was accompanied by coach Vasha Adams and executive member Tevin Bynoe, who took part in the tournament's referee and technical training.
