25 de Agosto - Danubio 76-82 We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Montevideo where 9th ranked 25 de Agosto (2-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Danubio (3-4) 82-76 on Friday. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and guard Angel Varela (188-87) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Danubio players scored in double figures. Danubio's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Lucas Capalbo (175-0, college: Odessa JC) with 27 points and 4 assists and point guard Brian Garcia (182-90) scored 19 points. Danubio moved-up to seventh place, which they share with U.Atletica and Verdirrojo. 25 de Agosto lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Verdirrojo. Strangely Verdirrojo outrebounded Sayago 38-0 including a 12- advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (206-93, college: UW-Parkside) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds. Center Joaquin Jones (199-97) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Martin Aguilera (195-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Giovanni Corbisiero (-2) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Verdirrojo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sayago moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Stockolmo. Verdirrojo at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with U.Atletica and Danubio. It was a good game for American center Ricardo Glenn (203-90, college: USC Upstate) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds. Forward Demian Alvarez (193-84) contributed with 30 points for the winners. American forward Antonio Bivins (198-92, college: UMass Lowell) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds and Emilio Taboada (191-82) added 25 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for U.Atletica. L.Borges have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. U.Atletica at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Anthony Danridge (196-86, college: N.Mexico) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 assists and guard Nicolas Pereyra (180-99) who added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Stockolmo's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American center Malik Wineglass (203-93, college: Harris-Stowe St.) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Sebastian Ottonello (195-97) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds.
