Aguada - Malvin 58-78 The game between Top Four teams took place in Aguada. 4th placed host Aguada (6-2) was smashed by first ranked Malvin (8-1) 78-58. Malvin dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Aguada's 16 and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Aguada 42-30 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Argentinian Maria Jourdheuil (180-1994) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Malvin players scored in double figures. Malvin's coach Juan Serdio used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Camila Kirschenbaum (170-2002, college: Binghamton) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Josefina Zeballos (173-2003) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Malvin have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record, which they share with D.Sporting. Loser Aguada dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. D.Sporting (8-1) crushed visiting 25 de Agosto (7-2) by 20 points 78-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of 25 de Agosto. It was a key game for the top position in the league. D.Sporting forced 19 25 de Agosto turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Joaquina Gregorio (168-2001) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Carolina Curbelo (178-2002) accounted for 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Hebraica dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Remeros' 20. Hebraica forced 31 Remeros turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Forward Martina Marino (170-2005) fired 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian Abril Ramirez (167-2000) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Lucia Ortellado produced 5 points and 7 rebounds and Valeria Barrett (175-2000) added 6 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hebraica have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 25 de Agosto. Loser Remeros keep the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Urunday. Hebraica will meet at home Aguada (#5) in the next round. Remeros will play against Juventud and it may be a tough game between close rivals. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Yale (3-5) to seventh ranked Lagomar (2-6) 61-60 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Paraguayan forward Natalia Quevedo (170-1998) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Camila Panetta (162-2001) helped adding 10 points. At the losing side Argentinian point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Argentinian Agustina Bazan (174-2003) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Yale's coach Gino Alderete tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lagomar maintains seventh place with 2-6 record.
