D.J. Foreman gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Metropolitan (by Hoops Agents)- July 31, 2023
The 29-year old forward had the game-high 27 points adding six rebounds for Larranaga in his team's victory, helping them to crush Atenas (#10, 6-6) with 19-point margin 85-66. Larranaga is placed at 3rd position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Larranaga will need more victories to improve their 8-4 record. In the team's last game Foreman had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Larranaga, through which he has constantly improved. Saint Louis University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Foreman is in league's top in points (6th best: 18.8ppg). The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American power forward Tirrell Brown (198-PF-1993) of 25 de Agosto. Brown impressed basketball fans with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Bad luck as 25 de Agosto lost that game 78-86 to the higher-ranked Welcome (#8, 6-6). This loss caused 25 de Agosto to drop to 14th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-8 record. Brown is one of the most experienced players at 25 de Agosto and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.2ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 8.8rpg and 3.4apg. The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Agustin Zuvich (201-F/C-1995) of Atenas (#10). Zuvich scored 27 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Zuvich's great performance Atenas lost 66-85 to the higher-ranked Larranaga (#3, 8-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Atenas needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 6 lost games. Zuvich has a great season in Uruguay. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.7ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 12.1rpg (2nd best). Agustin Zuvich has also Uruguayan passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player. Other top performing players last week: 4.
