Medina number one in Uruguayan Metropolitan for round 5 (by Hoops Agents)- September 2, 2023
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, four rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Urunday (#1, 16-4) 82-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Tabare maintains the 3rd position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Tabare will need more victories to improve their 13-7 record. In the team's last game Medina had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Tabare's top player in his first season with the team. Octavio Medina averages this season 15.2ppg and 5.6rpg. The second best player in last round's games was young Argentinian Gonzalo Torres (201-F/C-1994) of Miramar. Torres had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 19 rebounds. Of course he led Miramar to another comfortable win 92-76 over the bottom-ranked Verdirrojo (#13, 6-14) being unquestionably team leader. Despite this victory they still are the league outsider. 16 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Miramar managed to get this Second Stage. Torres is a newcomer at Miramar, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was American center Ricardo Glenn (203-C-1990, agency: Interperformances) of league's second-best Olimpia. Glenn scored 18 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Olimpia, leading his team to a 86-73 easy win against the lower-ranked Capitol (#5, 11-9). Olimpia needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 14 victories and 6 lost games. Glenn has a very solid season. In 9 games in Uruguay he scored 12.9ppg. He also has 9.1rpg and FGP: 72.1%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Tyrone Lee (203-PF-1990) of Urunday - 24 points and 11 rebounds 5. Desmond Holloway (194-SF-1990) of 25 de Agosto - 27 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Matias De Gouveia (180-PG-1988) of Miramar - 24 points and 4 assists 7. Al Thornton (203-F-1983) of Olimpia - 25 points and 3 rebounds 10. Tirrell Brown (198-PF-1993) of 25 de Agosto - 19 points and 14 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
