Rudd's double-double lands him (Second Stage) Player of the Week award

32-year old American power forward Victor Rudd (206-PF-1991) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Atletico Aguada Montevideo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1 (Second Stage).
He had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Defensor (#4, 15-8) 82-77. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Aguada maintains the 2nd position in Uruguayan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Aguada will need more victories to improve their 18-5 record. Rudd turned to be Aguada's top player in his first season with the team.

Second best performed player last round was Malik Curry (184-G-1999) of Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo. He is American guard in his first season at Defensor. In the last game Curry recorded an impressive double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Defensor lost that game 77-82 to Aguada (18-5). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Curry is a newcomer at Defensor and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.1ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 5.2rpg and 5.1apg.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Mateo Sarni (185-PG-1998) of Urupan de Pando (#4). Sarni scored 20 points and passed 7 assists. Despite Sarni's great performance the Urupan lost 84-92 to Malvin (#8, 10-13). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Urupan not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 16 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Sarni could try to bring Urupan's a little bit higher in the standings. Sarni has individually a great season in Uruguay. After 23 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 7.3apg (2nd best).
