Martinez number one in Uruguayan Metropolitan for round 9 (by Hoops Agents)

Point guard Fernando Martinez (173-PG-1979, agency: Pro Sports) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Montevideo Basket Ball Club, receiving a Hoops Agents Metropolitan Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 45-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, seven rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Bohemios (#8, 4-5) 100-98. Montevideo is placed at 2nd position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Montevideo will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Montevideo, through which he has constantly improved. Fernando Martinez has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 20.9ppg), assists (5th best: 5.8apg) and averages impressive 2.1spg,57.7% FGP and 45.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Argentinian Agustin Zuvich (201-F/C-1995) of Larranaga Montevideo. Zuvich had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Larranaga lost that game 77-82 to slightly higher-ranked Lagomar (#10, 3-5). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Larranaga dropped in the standings to 12th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Zuvich is one of the most experienced players at Larranaga and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Brazilian center Sergio Conceicao (209-C-2000) of Larre Borges Montevideo (#14). Conceicao scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds (!!!). Despite Conceicao's great performance the L.Borges lost 62-65 to the higher-ranked Capitol (#6, 5-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. L.Borges can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-7 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Conceicao he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Conceicao has individually a great season in Uruguay. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.8ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 13.6rpg (2nd best).
