Liga Femenina Round 6 (Regular Season): Lagomar is defeated by 25 de Agosto in a derby game

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: 25 de Agosto (#7) and Lagomar (#4). 25 de Agosto (3-3) won against visiting Lagomar (3-2) 67-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lagomar. 25 de Agosto forced 19 Lagomar turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Lagomar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Argentinian swingman Rocio Sagardoy (176-2000) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Paula Sosa (180-1996) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Belen Moreira (-1999) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 25 de Agosto moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aguada. Lagomar at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost.

Urunday was smashed at home by 37 points 55-92 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Urunday. Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Joaquina Gregorio supported her with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Malvin's coach Juan Serdio felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points and 4 assists by Argentinian guard Melina Marcial (168-1998) did not help to save the game for Urunday. Malvin (4-1) moved-up to third place. Urunday at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost.

At the other side the best for losing team was Milagros Rivero who recorded 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Tabare (1-5) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Juventud. It was Cordon's fifth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost.

In the last two games of round 6 Juventud lost to undefeated Yale on the opponent's court 45-79. D.Sporting managed to outperform Aguada in a home game 83-66.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 18 points and 18 rebounds by Sofia Herrera of D.Sporting.

Tabare - Cordon 67-55

Tabare has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Cordon (0-5) 67-55 on Wednesday. Tabare dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Cordon's 18. Tabare forced 31 Cordon turnovers. Strangely Cordon outrebounded Tabare 42-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Matilde Talamas (-2006) who scored 14 points and 5 assists. Guard Maite Lacasa (-2008) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Milagros Rivero (-2003) who recorded 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Cecilia Pedetti added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Tabare (1-5) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Juventud. It was Cordon's fifth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost.

Very expected game in Montevideo where 8th ranked Juventud (1-5) was crushed by top-ranked Yale (6-0) 79-45 on Wednesday. Yale forced 28 Juventud turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Lara Barbato (181-2004) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Aldana Barragan (-2005) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Valeria Barrett (175-2000) who recorded 10 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Catalina Pereira (176-2004, agency: BIG) added 5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Yale have an impressive six-game winning streak. Rather predictable result in Montevideo where second ranked D.Sporting (5-1) defeated 5th ranked Aguada (3-3) 83-66 on Wednesday. D.Sporting forced 24 Aguada turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. D.Sporting looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Sofia Herrera (179-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Center Josefina Rivera (177-1998) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Five D.Sporting players scored in double figures. D.Sporting's coach Fabian Boscardin used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian center Ornela Bacchini (188-1989, college: OLLU, agency: BIG) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and guard Camila Kirschenbaum (171-2002, college: Binghamton) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively.
