Verdirrojo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stockolmo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Capitol.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Atenas (#1) and Yale (#6). Yale was smashed at home by 34 points 54-88 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of American DeAngelo Stewart (197-1995, college: PFW) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Felipe Silveira contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Cuban center Arle Zaporta replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds for Yale. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atenas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Yale at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Montevideo and Marne. Atenas' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Montevideo.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Lagomar (3-1) against twelfth ranked Marne (1-2) on Tuesday night. Visiting Lagomar was defeated by Marne in Montevideo 87-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lagomar. Worth to mention a great performance of Miguel Barriola who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Santiago Moglia responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Marne left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Montevideo and Yale. Loser Lagomar keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Marne will meet Colon (#10) on the road in the next round. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Olimpia.
