The Regular Season in LUB is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most exciting game of round 13 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Defensor (6-5) to fourth ranked Hebraica (8-4) 91-90 on Monday evening. Hebraica outrebounded Defensor 32-20 including 21 on the defensive glass. Guard Juan Zanotta (185-1995) fired 16 points and 8 assists for the winners. American center Arnold Louis (201-1990, college: SSU) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Elijah Weaver (197-1998, college: Chicago St.) produced 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Hebraica maintains fourth place with 8-4 record. Defensor at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Hebraica's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Cordon.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Penarol (#1) and Malvin (#2). Malvin was crushed at home by 22 points 67-89 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Malvin. Worth to mention a great performance of Colombian forward Andres Ibarguen (200-1996, college: Angelo St., agency: Helping Ballers) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Skyler Hogan contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Remy Abell (193-1992, college: Xavier) answered with 17 points for Malvin. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Penarol (11-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place. Malvin at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Penarol's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo U.Atletica.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Aguada (#6) and Urunday (#8). Urunday was defeated at home 99-104 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Luis Santos stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. At the losing side Emmitt Holt responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Urunday's coach Mauricio Gonzalez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aguada (7-4) moved-up to fifth place. Loser Urunday keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Aguada's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Defensor.
