LFB Round 3 (Regular Season): Lagomar is defeated by Malvin in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#3) and Lagomar (#7). Lagomar was defeated at home 56-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Malvin made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for guard Carolina Fernandez (186-2003) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Paula Fernandez (178-2005) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Argentinian swingman Rocio Sagardoy (176-2000) with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Montevideo: Yale (#6) and 25 de Agosto (#8). 25 de Agosto was crushed at home by 27 points 55-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian guard Paola Alegre (162-2001) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 5 assists. Giselle Botta accounted for 14 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Camila Castro (168-2004) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds for 25 de Agosto in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Montevideo. host D.Sporting (3-0) smashed Aguada (1-2) 92-45. The best player for the winners was Agustina Oyarzabal who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Luzmila Varzi who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

In the last game of round 3 winless Cordon lost to Urunday on the opponent's court 49-67.

D.Sporting - Aguada 92-45

The game between Top Four teams took place in Montevideo. host D.Sporting (3-0) smashed Aguada (1-2) 92-45. D.Sporting held Aguada to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.4 percent accuracy of the winners. D.Sporting forced 27 Aguada turnovers and outrebounded them 50-34 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. D.Sporting shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Aguada's players. The best player for the winners was swingman Agustina Oyarzabal (175-2007) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Julieta Laubert (169-2008) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian forward Luzmila Varzi (171-2005) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and Fiorella Bertinat (179-2010) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

Very expected game in Montevideo where Cordon (0-3) was defeated by Urunday (2-1) 67-49 on Wednesday. Urunday held Cordon to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Urunday forced 33 Cordon turnovers. Strangely Cordon outrebounded Urunday 57-38 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Argentinian guard Melina Marcial (168-1998) who scored 12 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Forward Mia Nilo (175-2008) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian center Martina Schunk (181-2005) who recorded 23 points and 26 rebounds and forward Milagros Rivero (160-2003) added 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest.

Yale made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 25 de Agosto turnovers. Yale players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists.
