The Regular Season in Liga de Ascenso just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Urupan in Montevideo on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by Olimpia 89-81. Olimpia looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Martin Perdomo (178-1995) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists for the winners. Panamanian power forward Ezequiel Bell (202-1999) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Joaquin Jones (199-1997) produced 22 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was played in Montevideo between Trouville and Verdirrojo where Trouville beat Verdirrojo on the road with 18-point difference 76-58. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Dennis McKinney (194-1998, college: Mt.Mercy) who helped to win the game recording 27 points. Nahuel Rodriguez contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Randy Rickards (201-2000, college: WILMU) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds for Verdirrojo. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Stockolmo and Lagomar. Despite it looked like an easy game for Stockolmo, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. How else can you describe just 2 points victory of Stockolmo 72-70. Juan Viana stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. At the losing side Facundo Medina responded with 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
