Trotamundos - Llaneros 73-60 No shocking result in a game when third ranked Trotamundos (5-6) beat 5th ranked Llaneros (3-7) in La Asuncion 73-60 on Tuesday. Trotamundos dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Llaneros' 26. Trotamundos had a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Keron DeShields (190-92, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) nailed 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Colombian forward Luis Almanza (196-91) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. Center Carlos Rodriguez (206-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Dominican point guard Yerri Flores (188-96, college: High School) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively for Llaneros in the defeat. Llaneros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains third place with 5-6 record having two points less than leader Spartans. Llaneros at the other side keep the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Cangrejeros. Centauros outrebounded Cangrejeros 46-35 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Luis Germany (195-95) nailed 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center Javinger Vargas (202-90) accounted for 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Geovanny Marquez came up with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Teobaldo Marcano (199-92) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Centauros maintains sixth place with 2-8 record. Leader Guaiqueries managed to get a 5-point victory 55-50. Guaiqueries held Supersonicos to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Supersonicos 45-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. International center Luis Carrillo (206-93) nailed 7 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Tulio Cobos (197-86, college: Northeastern St.) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and American Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (198-93, college: FMU) added 9 points respectively for Supersonicos in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Guaiqueries have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Supersonicos at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with Broncos. Heroes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Douglas Rondon (175-95) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Gregory Curvelo (195-90) answered with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Taurinos. Four Taurinos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Heroes have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Diablos. Taurinos lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Diablos were crushed at home by 18 points 69-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Cocodrilos players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Diablos' players. Dominican Luis Montero (203-93, college: South Plains) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Jovanni Diaz (203-90) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side point guard Martin Escobar (185-88) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Argenis Indriago (178-0) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cocodrilos maintains second place with 9-2 record having just two point less than leader Spartans. Diablos lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Heroes.
