Here is the weekly review of the top performing Venezuelan players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former U17 international center
Sergio Mijares (1997, currently plays in Chile). He could not help
Aleman (0-2) in their last game. Despite Mijares' very good performance Aleman was edged
76-73 at home by the much lower-ranked (#13) CD Tomas Lawrence.
He was the top scorer with 15 points. Mijares also added 8 rebounds in 33 minutes on the court.
Mijares has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.6ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.8apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 53.6%, 3FGP: 32.4% and FT: 81.0% in five games he played so far.
Mijares played for the Venezuelan U17 national team year ago.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international point guard
Heissler Guillent (186-1986, currently plays in Colombia). He was the major contributor in
Titanes' victory against the closely-ranked Cafeteros (7-5)
91-90 in the Colombian Liga WPlay last Monday.
Guillent scored 20 points, made 6 passes and 4 steals.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Titanes de Barranquilla (12-0) is placed first in the Liga WPlay.
So far his team won all three games in the Finals.
Guillent has relatively good stats this season: 13.4ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.8apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 51.0%, 3FGP: 37.1% and FT: 78.2%.
He played for the Venezuelan national team in 22.
#3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard
Yohanner Sifontes (192-1995, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Heissler Guillent and both played together in the last Colombian Liga WPlay game.
Sifontes led
Titanes to a 1-point victory against the closely-ranked Cafeteros (7-5)
91-90.
He scored 14 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 37 minutes.
This year Sifontes' overall stats are: 7.6ppg, 3.7rpg, 3.9apg, 2FGP: 69.2%, 3FGP: 36.4% and FT: 64.7% in seven games.
He played for the Venezuelan national team year ago.
#4. Swingman
Jesus Medina (188-1994, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Heissler Guillent. He played also in the last Colombian Liga WPlay game facing Yohanner Sifontes (above) in the other team.
Medina led
Titanes to a 1-point victory against the closely-ranked Cafeteros (7-5)
91-90.
He scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Medina's total stats this season are: 7.5ppg, 3.8rpg and 2.3apg.
He used to play for the Venezuelan U17 national team
back in 11.
#5. Former international forward
Jose Ascanio (204-1996, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help
Quimsa in their game against Instituto (25-13) in the Argentinian La Liga.
Ascanio recorded 5 points in 11 minutes.
The league leader Quimsa lost
91-96 on the road to the lower-ranked (#3) Instituto.
This year Ascanio's total stats are: 5.2ppg and 2.7rpg in 11 games.
He used to play for the Venezuelan national team
years ago.
#6. Forward
Michael Carrera (196-1993, agency:
BIG, college:
S.Carolina, currently plays in Spain) contributed to
Lleida's victory against the eighth-ranked Caceres (19-16)
79-70 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night.
Carrera scored 10 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 4 assists (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line).
ICG Forca Lleida (21-12) is placed third in the LEB Gold.
This season Carrera has very high stats. He averages: 17.1ppg, 7.7rpg and 2.1apg.
Carrera is a former international player as he played for the Venezuelan senior team year ago.

Fernando Lucena (185-PG-1986, currently plays in Colombia) could not help
Cafeteros (7-5) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Cafeteros was edged
91-90 at home by the leading Titanes.
Lucena scored 15 points in 22 minutes.
Lucena has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 1.8rpg in 20 games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Venezuelan and Colombian.
#2. Hector Diaz (192-SG-1992, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Fernando Lucena. But that was another game of his team in Colombian Liga WPlay which we would like to mention.
Diaz was not able to help
Cafeteros (7-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Cafeteros was defeated
79-66 on the road by the leading Titanes.
Diaz scored 11 points.
Diaz has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg.
He is another player who holds two passports: Venezuelan and Colombian.
#3. Joseph Campos (175-PG-1996, college:
West LA, currently plays in Chile) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider
Stadio Italiano (0-7) in their game against Boston College (4-3) in the Chilean LNB 2 (second division).
Campos scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes.
The bottom-ranked Stadio Italiano lost
73-81 in a derby game to the much higher-ranked (#7) Boston College.
So far Stadio Italiano lost all seven games in the Regular Season.
Campos has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 7.0rpg in four games.
