Here is the weekly review of the top performing Venezuelan players, who play currently abroad.

Gregory Echenique
Gregory Echenique
#1. This week's number one is former international center Gregory Echenique (206-1990, agency: Pensack Sports, college: Creighton, currently plays in Japan). He could not help Fukushima (1-4) in their last game. Despite Echenique's very good performance the seventh-placed Fukushima (1-4) were edged 73-70 at home by the higher-ranked (#5) Aomori Watts in the East group. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Echenique also added 4 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. It was Fukushima's fourth consecutive loss in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Echenique has relatively good stats this year: 13.4ppg, 7.8rpg, 2FGP: 61.8%(21-34) and FT: 71.4% in five games he played so far. He played for the Venezuelan senior national team year ago.

Michael Carrera
Michael Carrera
#2. Second place goes to former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, agency: BIG, college: S.Carolina, currently plays in Spain). Carrera led Lleida to a victory over the 12th-ranked Coruna (1-2) 71-63 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Wednesday. He was MVP of the game. Carrera recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals; not bad, considering it's only Carrera's first season in pro basketball. ICG Forca Lleida (3-0) is placed second in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Carrera has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 22.0ppg, 11.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 42.1%, 3FGP: 57.1% and FT: 94.1%(16-17). Former Trotamundos de Carabobo starter played for the Venezuelan national team in 22.

Juan Coronado
Juan Coronado
#3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Juan Coronado (203-1990, college: Liberty, currently plays in Spain). Coronado was not able to help Cornella in their game against L'Hospitalet (1-2) in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). He recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 27 minutes. Cornella (#3) was edged 64-63 on the road by the much lower-ranked (#13) L'Hospitalet in the East group. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. This year Coronado's overall stats are: 6.0ppg, 7.7rpg in three games. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Venezuelan. Coronado played for the Venezuelan national team year ago.

Angel Lugo
Angel Lugo
#4. Point guard Angel Lugo (181-1999, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Molina Basket to win against the seventh-ranked Infante (1-1) 80-69 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. He scored only 3 points. It was his first game for Molina this season. His team is placed fifth in Group E-B. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Lugo is another player who holds two passports: Venezuelan and Spanish. He used to play for the Venezuelan U16 national team back in 15.

Terry Bardasz
Terry Bardasz
#5. Former U18 international guard Terry Bardasz (188-2004, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 1-point Porrino's victory against the sixth-ranked Avila (1-1) 59-58 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday. Bardasz scored only 3 points in 10 minutes. Porrino Baloncesto Base (2-0) is placed fourth in Group A-B. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. This year Bardasz's total stats are: 1.5ppg and 1.5rpg in two games. He used to play for the Venezuelan U18 national team years ago.
