Gladiadores were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Emmitt Williams (198-1998, college: LSU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (190-1992) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. American Jordan Adams (196-1994, college: UCLA) replied with 24 points and his fellow American import swingman David Nickelberry (201-1998, college: Buffalo) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gladiadores. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
