The defending champions USA rout Venezuela in the opener of the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2023. USA posted an 80-54 win in Leon. USA nailed 20 points in the first period and added a 26-11 surge in the second frame. Moreover, they won the third quarter 20-14, whilst Venezuela replied with a 24-14 run in the last stanza. Rickea Jackson (188-F-2001) and Angel Reese (190-F-2002) top-scored for the winners with 11 points each, whilst Janiah Barker (193-F-2003) netted 10. Daniela Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) ended up with 11 points in the losing effort.
