By finishing at 6th place in the 2023 Women's FIBA Americup, played in Mexico, the Venezuelan Senior National Team got tickets for both the Pan American Games (in Santiago, Chile, Oct. 25th-Oct. 29th, 2023) and the 2023 FIBA Americas Pre Olympic Qualy Tournament (Nov 5th-Nov 13th).
The team coached by Argentinian Eduardo Pinto finished the first round with a 1-3 record. They were defeated by the United States (80-54) and Brazil (90-76) prior to achieving a spectacular comeback victory in over time against Cuba, 106-85. That phase ended with a tough luck defeat against Argentina (58-56).
In the Quarter Finals round, Puerto Rico ended Venezuela's participation in the tournament in another exciting over time clash, 89-86.
Brazil defeated the United States in the Finals and Canada took the Bronze medal with a win over Puerto Rico. Colombia finished at fifth place and following Venezuela's 6th place were Argentina (7), Mexico (8), Cuba (9) and Dominican Republic (10).
