Venezuela confirms official squad for the 2023 Olympic Qualy Tournament- November 8, 2023

The Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) made official the 12-player squad that will represent the country in the upcoming 2023 Olympic Games Qualy Tournament, to be played in Medellin, Colombia (November 9th-November 12th).
Argentinian head coach Eduardo Pinto , who'll be assisted by Venezuelans Jose Gallardo and Luz Vargas, incorporated Daniela Wallen Morillo (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) and Nohelia Chile (191-C-2002) in comparison to the team that played and finished at fifth place in the recent 2023 Panamerican Games, held in Santiago, Chile. The full list includes the following players: Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-1999) of Quimsa (Argentina) Mariana Duran (172-PG-1993, college: Okla City) of Pallacanestro Bolzano (Italy) Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC) of ZKK Kraljevo (Serbia) Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) of Pastoras de Lara (Venezuela) Jormelys Urbina (170-PG-1996) of Club 25 de Agosto (Uruguay) Daniela Wallen Morillo of Keflavik (Iceland) Ivaney Marquez (181-F-1983, college: Grayson County) of Cayenas de Carabobo (Venezuela) Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) of CPN Basquetebol (Portugal) Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999) of KK Lavovi Brcko (Bosnia) Marielka Garate (183-F-1995) of Panteras Basketball Club (Peru) Nohelia Chile of Universidad Interamericana (Puerto Rico) Yosimar Corrales (184-PF-1990) of Cayenas de Carabobo (Venezuela) Venezuela will face Canada (November 9th), Puerto Rico (November 10th) and Colombia (November 12th) in the first round at Ivan de Bedout Arena. The two top teams will advance to the World Olympic Games Qualy Tournaments (to be played in 2024). |
