SLFB 2024 - Caribenas de Caracas (2-0) defeat Gaiteras del Zulia (0-2) twice

Caribenas de Caracas (2-0) completed a two-game sweep over Gaiteras del Zulia (0-2) to start defending their title in Venezuela's 2024 Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB), at Belisario Aponte Arena in Maracaibo, Zulia.

Caribenas took down Gaiteras 77-65 in the first game. Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) and Eranyelis Sosaya (175-PF-1997) added 15 points each, while Yurkia Gallardo (SG-1991) added 13 more for the winners. The top scorers for Gaiteras were Cuban Nayara Espinosa (189-C-2001) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists and Andrea Contreras with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Gaiteras tried to split the series but ended up losing the second game against Caribenas as well, 69-58. For the winning side, Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) completed a double double with 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Astrid Hinojosa added another one with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.

Meanwhile, Zulia's top performers were Stefany Ferrer (177-SF-2005) with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists and Joan Ramirez (161-PG) with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
