SLFB 2024 - Gaiteras (1-4) split series against Capitalinas (1-3), Indias (4-0) and Pastoras (3-0) stay undefeated- May 4, 2024

Gaiteras del Zulia (1-4) got their first victory in the 2024 season of Venezuela's Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB), by splitting the series against Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (1-3), 66-58.
Cuban Nayara Espinosa (189-C-2001) completed a double double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also added 3 assists for the winners. Yolimar Gonzalez (175-PF-1998) scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and handed out 4 assists. Joan Ramirez (161-PG) followed them with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. For Capitalinas, Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) scored 17 points and 3 rebounds and Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Indias de Miranda (4-0) extended their undefeated run by taking down Caribenas de Caracas (2-1), 83-78. Shannen Peralta (F-2003) led the way with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Darleska Perez (175-PF-2007) was sensational with a double double of 20 points and 16 rebounds, adding 3 assists. However it was Yesimar Escudero (168-PG-2007) who made the headlines with a triple double of 13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, the first one of the 2024 season. Meanwhile, Pastoras de Lara (3-0) had no trouble to defeat Mineras de Cojedes (0-3) as visitors at Federico Sanchez Arena in Tinaquillo, 83-71. Yolimar Martinez (184-C-1995) had a huge game with a double double of 20 points and 15 rebounds, as well as 2 assists. Rookie Roberli Perez added 21 more with 3 points and 2 assists and Hillary Perez (169-SF-1995) netted 11 more with 7 rebounds and 2 assists. For Mineras, Florangel Garcia scored 26 points and Alexandra Blanco finished up with 22. |
