The best player for the winners was the former international forward Luis Bethelmy (200-1986) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Landers Nolley II (201-2000, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 19 points. American forward Alphonso Anderson (198, college: Pacific) produced 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guaiqueries will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Marinos will try to continue on its current victory against Cocodrilos in Caracas.
Toros recorded a loss in Maracay. Hosts were defeated by Llaneros 76-72. French center Ludgy Debaut (213, college: ECU, agency: Helping Ballers) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Dion Wright contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-1982, agency: Pro Sports) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Toros. Toros' coach Jorge Arrieta tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Llaneros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena .
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Caracas: Panteras and Diablos. Diablos were smashed at home by 23 points 58-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Evert Bernal scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Edry Gonzalez responded with 16 points and 5 assists. Diablos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Frontinos were crushed by Pioneros in Caracas 82-59. Gaiteros lost to undefeated Heroes at home 58-64. Winless Brillantes lost to undefeated Spartans on the opponent's court 83-89. Gladiadores managed to outperform Broncos in a home game 93-84.
